Brand: Casper
Channel: Facebook
Category: Home Goods
Creator: Jason Walsh

Why the Scroll Stopped

The battle for a user’s attention happens within the first 1-2 seconds. The creator breaks the “fourth wall” and acknowledges your presence by looking directly into the camera and speaking as if engaged in conversation with the viewer. This simple hack does a great job of grabbing your attention within the first frame. Also, the kids jumping on the bed provide movement in the back of the shot to catch the eye.

Why it worked

The scene playing out is super relatable to the viewer. It does a great job of highlighting the product features and showing the comfort level of Casper products.

Why we love it

As impressive as it was, this ad was shot on a very small budget. The creator is the main character in the video, and he also used his own voice for the Voice Over. The other two characters are played by his children, and some defining elements in the ad, like the smoke coming out of the toaster, was done with a simple animation. A good visual hook + clean shots of the product + a dash of humor = a great Brkfst ad.

Creator: Sohini Bandyopadhyay

Why the Scroll Stopped

The value prop, brand name, product and promo code jump out at you within the first seconds of the ad. There’s no mystery or narrative — and it works. This hook is a great example of “less is more.”

Why it worked

This is an unboxing video, but the creator really focused on showing, not telling. You see the creator unbox the full sized perfume and apply it immediately. The text stands out in this video because of the frosted fade in the background. The brand’s value propositions are very clear to the viewer, and the minimal animation keeps it genuine and authentic.

Why we love it

This isn’t a studio-model, high budget ad – and that’s the point! Our creators provide ads with a variety of creative approaches, then we let the data show us what works best. This ad outperformed the rest, and gave us key insights into what this brand’s target audience responds best to.

Creator: David Wigfield

Why the Scroll Stopped

The stop motion style of the ad allows the viewer’s curiosity to grow alongside the ad. The minimalist effect keeps it polished and clean, while the added contrast of the other elements jumping into the frame capture your attention in an aesthetically-pleasing grasp.

Why it worked

This simple ad is a great representation of the brand’s minimalist products and clean aesthetic. It reaches the right audience by matching the brand’s cohesive nature and organic elements, while highlighting the product selections. The camera work is steady with high resolution to make a really effective stop motion video.

Why we love it

Although this ad seems fairly simple, there is expert layering that gives it life. The background is crisp and clean. The use of soft light and natural shadows give the products a 3D feel and help them stand out from the background. We love that each addition of a product has a matching sound effect. Topped off with text layover that highlights the brand proposition and matches the logo font, this is a high quality ad.
